How the Work Goes

Install
The valve goes on the house side of the meter. Two to three hours, and gas is off only during the work.

Relight & tag
We relight pilots, tag the valve, and leave the reset instructions posted — resetting it after a trip is a two-minute job you can do yourself.

What does a seismic gas shutoff valve actually do?
It's a mechanical valve at your meter that trips on strong shaking and stops all gas flow into the house — before a cracked line or toppled water heater can feed a fire. No power or electronics involved.
What happens if the valve trips when there's no earthquake?
Rare, but possible with a hard physical jolt to the meter. Resetting takes about two minutes with the instructions we leave at the valve, then pilots get relit. No parts, no service call required.
